The Curtain Wall represents a modern and innovative technology, meant for building structures having more and complex geometric shapes, in combination with composite glasses and other materials. Coatings and finishes are many: lucid, extra lucid, dull, semi-dull, oxidized, anti-scratch, self-cleaning. With photovoltaic wall systems and with the insulated profiles, energy saving is guaranteed, besides the use of these walls in renewable energy systems.

The Curtain wall derives from the concrete and/or steel load bearing skeleton. The designer of a
curtain wall is above all free of managing the light and the solar energy (coming from outside) in
the building space, thus creating no more walls made of masonry having a structural function, but
only a number of horizontal and vertical elements, the empty spaces of which can be filled at will.
Such curtain walls can be obtained both with insulated glazed frames and with blind elements. The
many combinations of glass elements give the possibility of controlling the amount of light or
energy that is to be allowed to enter inside. Blind elements both help the aesthetic aspect and the
thermal exchange (ventilation) of the structure with the outside. The filling of blind elements can
also be obtained with composite panels having a sandwich structure, that is made up with two
external aluminium sheets being 0.5 mm thick, and being varnished or oxidized, hot alloyed over a central thicker layer made of a synthetic material (LPDE low density polyethylene). |
